Sub-Frameworks

There is only one Set of Level Descriptors for every NQF levels. Meaning all three Sub-Frameworks making up the NQF develop their qualifications out of this single set of Level Descriptors.

Occupational Qualifications

Outcomes-based Assessment Processes

Given Level Descriptors’ learning outcomes for a qualification level, out of the latter assessment criteria are determined.  Assessment processes are one of the NQF quality assurance functions. Functions by which evidence of learning achievement and recognition are realised.

Outcomes-based Assessment Principles

Outcome-based assessment principles too are part of the NQF quality assurance framework in the achievement and recognition of learning outcomes.

Level Descriptors provide learning outcomes for every NQF qualification. To occupational qualifications, Level Descriptors contributes as follows:

• Quality assurance standards towards development of every occupational intervention;
• They have been Foundational in the formulation of Outcomes-based assessment principles; and
• Guiding performance standards at execution of every assessment process for all occupational interventions.
